A big hello from the new site owner...finally

Hi everyone,

I just want to thank everyone who has welcomed me - I know a change of ownership must sound a bit daunting, but you really are in safe hands, I promise!
Let me start by letting you all know that the site will not be changing overnight - all changes will be gradual and will be for the advancement of the website, and to provide you all with useful information that you can apply to your businesses.

A new owner for the Women's Marketing Forum

Ladies!

I am pleased to announce that the new owner of WomensMarketingForum.com is Joycellyn Akuffo, who is also the founder and owner of 'mums in business' site MothersWhoWork.co.uk.

Joycellyn has a strong journalistic and internet marketing background and is passionate about helping women create successful businesses that fit around their other life committments, so she's the ideal person to take the community to its next 'life stage'!

I've had a ball meeting all the members of this community, and will of course continue to stick around, but in the meantime...

Picture of your website on Facebook link - how is that done?

When someone adds a link to your website on Facebook, does it display a picture of your website?

Here is a quick guide - might be something you have to ask your webmaster to help you with.

1. Decide what image you want to use to represent your website - it may be a logo, an image from the website or a screenshot.

2. Crop your image to a maximum of 200px wide. Can't find any definite rule on this anywhere. It is also better to keep it as square as possible so it is not cropped.

3. Upload the image to your website.

How well does it read? Some interesting ways to edit

When you first start to write there is a terrible temptation to start correcting mistakes and reading back sentences. This completely destroys your creative flow and often leads to the famous ‘writers block’.

Editing your blog should always come after you have written your post and not during it. Indeed there is theory right brain- left brain which demonstrates that logic and creativity work in different  parts of your brain.

Can this really be a customer service business?

I have just had a customer service experience which must come from a discarded Fawlty Towers' script. In this day and age to treat customers as they  treated us defies belief.  Yet I am sure they were immune to the effect of their attitude and behaviour on our group.

Write a business blog how?

When I first came across the Women's Marketing Forum I had never thought I could write a business blog despite knowing there are very good reasons for doing so. Thanks to the support of a number of members I used this forum to experiment with my writing. The confidence it gave me encouraged more and more writing until I now am up in the top ten contributors!  What I have gained as well as the confidence is that I have raised my profile with potential customers and driven new prospects to my website.

Only a quarter of UK companies market their brand on Twitter.

This headline from www.thenextweb.com really grabbed my attention because it suggests something I have long suspected; businesses are missing out on the low cost benefits of social media.

Telemarketing

I knew it would happen - I have started to recieve telemarketing calls on my mobile regarding my website Put Your Foot In It

The bloke on the phone said i was obviously using a cheap template company and was I making any money from it ?. I was slightly bemused - I have just revamped my site and was feeling very proud of it. He said I should think about Harrods and a backstreet kebab shop - my website is closer to the kebab shop than to Harrods.
