Way to feel insignificant!

How many websites are there? How many people actually use the internet?

Sometimes, tapping away at my laptop I feel that, although I know the internet is incredibly powerful and has loads of information available at my fingertips, I am part of a sub-set that really uses it as part of our every-day lives.

Target Audience - Who Is Your Ideal Client?

Your target audience consists of the people and businesses that are most likely to need and want what you have to sell.  Before you create a marketing plan for your business, it is critical that you define your target audience and create an ideal client profile so you can attract this audience with your marketing. Once you have identified your target audience and ideal clients you will find it so much easier to design your marketing plan around their identity and their needs.

What were your biggest marketing lessons in 2009?

The new year has got me thinking about all the things I learned in 2009, especially the marketing lessons that I had to learn the hard way (i.e., through experience!)

I've decided my four biggest marketing lessons of 2009 are as follows:

1. Honesty is the best policy, even if it means being negative or controversial.

2. Perfection can be a real time waster.

3. Analytics don’t matter if you don’t learn from them.

4. Keywords matter, but you gotta get ’em right.

What are your daily 'must-do's?

After a couple of months of procrastination, and thanks to a chicken-pox-ridden family, I've finally snuggled myself in for a few hours of writing my business plan of attack for the days, weeks and months of this year.

For some reason the apparent enormity of this particular task has really put me off, despite being almost worryingly organised in all other areas of my life.

Set aside scheduled time to market your business

I don't usually work on weekends, but today I'm having lots of ideas for blog posts. So I've decided to make the most of it and get all my ideas written down and stockpiled for future use! I'm a great believer in blocking your time so that you can work on related tasks in pre-assigned chunks of time.

The Business Turnover Myth

This year I've noticed a lot of "gurus" I follow celebrating reaching the $1 m*illion dollar annual turnover mark. This is absolutely fantastic and I congratulate them all on a brilliant achievement. However - there's something really important missing from the fabulous picture most of them are painting for us.
