Kitten to Cat - Cat Only Veterinary Clinic in London

Biography

Summary:
I love cats and in March 08 started London's only cat only veterinary clinic. We have 2 vets and 2 veterinary nurses - all women except for my fiance who helps on reception sometimes :) I would like to meet anyone who loves cats.

About me

I've been working in small animal vet clinics since I was 11 years old when I started as a kennel girl in a Central London practice.

I've owned and rescued countless cats, dogs, horses, tortoises, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, green tree frogs, a salamander and an iguana. However have always dreamed of working solely with cats. I qualified as a veterinarian in 1999 and have undertaken some further study in feline medicine and is a member of the Feline Advisory Bureau, a non-profit organization committed to the welfare of cats.

I currently live in Kew, Richmond with my two cats Romany and Treacle, five fish and a fiancé.

About Kitten to Cat

I had always wanted to work with cats and after seeing many successful cat only practices in Australia and the US the timing seemed right to bring the concept to the UK. There are about half a dozen cat vets scattered around the UK but we are the only one in London.

Everything at Kitten to Cat is designed to reduce stress for cats. As a new clinic we were able to design everything from the ground up, so all of our equipment, stock, procedures etc are set up with cats in mind.

The main cause of stress for cats, and anxiety for cat owners, when visiting the vet is the sight, smell and sound of dogs which obviously is not an issue for a cat only vet. We also diffuse feline pheromones into the atmosphere as this is shown to have a calming effect.

In addition to a state of the art veterinary surgery, we also have boarding facilities equipped with web cams so owners can check up on their loved ones while they’re in our care, and an extensive retail section with fun toys for cats and gifts for cat owners.

I'm currently trying to find a home for Betsy - a cat who was brought into our clinic after living on the streets. After posting her details on a feline social networking site she has become probably the most popular cat on the Internet so I'm using this to build awareness amongst pet owners of the improtance of updating your microchip information when you move home.
