Quite simply the piece of card that provides all the essential contact details for clients and prospective clients to be able to contact and recommend you.
What you should know about business cards:
- UK size 85x55mm, US size 50x90mm
- Must include your name, telephone number and email address, website
- Should include your job title, company name (not always necessary if you choose to trade under your own name)
- You decide whether you put your address on there or not. If you work from home you might prefer to leave it off, but if you have clients to the house it would be helpful to them. If you work from an office then I’d definitely recommend you put the address on the card
How to turn your business card into a promotional tool
- Include a strapline which tells people what you do
- Use the back of the business card to put on a beautiful product image, pertinent question or explanation of what you do
- Make sure it’s beautifully designed or well printed – your card creates a lasting impression – good and bad
- Try something different – have it cut out in an unusual shape, try a folding business card or use an unusually textured or coloured card stock
